Some network hardware including routers, modems, APs and switches can have adverse reactions to vulnerability scanning. This is rare and often indicates an issue, as the Nodeware scan policies avoid DoS, Brute force and other harmful scanning procedures, this means even a basic scan by an attacker could interrupt the flow of network traffic.
Quick Fix
The fastest solution is to Pause the affected devices in the Nodeware dashboard. For more information about pausing devices, see the Pausing Devices knowledge base article in the Nodeware Dashboard section.
This is only a temporary work-around, as this will limit your visibility into current vulnerabilities on the device.
Solution
The long-term resolution is to update your device with the latest firmware and software patches. If there are none available, we recommend contacting the hardware vendor to report the issue.
If the device affected has passed EoL (End of Life), you should strongly consider upgrading your equipment as this often means not only are there potential issues, but it will not continue to receive critical security patches.
