The Patch Management feature checks assets for Windows updates that go beyond running Get Hotfix. Get Hotfix is a way to check which updates have been installed on a system; however, it is surface-level, not accurate, and may be missing information.
Nodeware performs a baseline scan after an asset gets its first fingerprint. Thereafter, Nodeware identifies the Windows Product ID, which is not provided by Microsoft. The scan runs each asset against the Windows Product IDs to confirm whether an update was installed at any time during the last 12 months.
Nodeware identifies the last two Microsoft Windows updates for each Operating System and Version. Nodeware will neither force customers to install the latest updates nor allow customers to install older updates. Security Updates are generally cumulative, meaning they will most likely have the older fixes included.
If an asset shows None Found in the Installed column, it means the initial baseline scan didn’t find any Windows updates installed on the asset within the last year.
