Nodeware Sensors can run as a virtual appliance with very lightweight requirements. There are two formats offered for download in the Nodeware dashboard – an Open Virtualization Format (OVF), used primarily with VMware products, and a Microsoft Hyper-V format.
Recommended Specifications
Nodeware will utilize the resources given to the VM, which allows some performance enhancement by providing more than the specifications here. Allotting less than the 4 GB of memory recommended will cause issues with vulnerability scanning, especially during multiple concurrent or deep credentialed scans.
- 2 Core CPU
- 4 GB RAM
- 20 GB Disk (Maximum)
Network Connectivity
Nodeware requires a virtual Gigabit Ethernet NIC when possible. 10/100 NICs should be avoided unless the network equipment throughput is also 10/100.
Layer 2 connectivity is required from the installed network location and the network segment to be monitored. This is to facilitate the inventory management utilized in Nodeware's proprietary scanning process and allows it to track devices as they enter and leave the network.
