The Nodeware network 'Node' score is an aggregate score based on a weighted average of the security score of all devices on your network. It is represented as a number between 0 and 1000 and can be seen in the Elements view as well as the Network view in the dashboard.
The breakpoints shown on the gauge indicate the general status of the network.
The announcement of newly discovered vulnerabilities can drastically change the score of the network overnight. It is recommended to enable the Critical Vulnerability Alert in the dashboard as described in the Alerts knowledge base article in the How-To section.
Computing Network Score
Nodeware calculates the network score based on the most recent, available vulnerability scan data. Nodeware examines vulnerabilities on a per-device level utilizing the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) scoring as detailed in the CVSS knowledge base article in the Scoring section.
Once all vulnerabilities detected for a device have been analyzed, the device score is then factored into the overall network score and weighted based on factors, such as likelihood of an exploit and the state of other devices on your network. Multiple vulnerable hosts represent a much larger risk for an organization versus one isolated device, which is reflected in the score.
All networks and devices are scored on the same scale to enable comparison between devices and separate networks.
