What is an "asset" as relates to Nodeware?
Relative to Nodeware subscriptions, an "asset" is any digital device actively connected to the network.
How do I buy subscriptions for asset-based vulnerability monitoring?
Visit us at https://app.nodeware.com and follow the simple steps to create a profile. When prompted choose in increments ("blocks") of 50 for the known number of assets on your network. If you have fewer than 50 assets on your network, choose 1 block. Remember: assets like PCs, laptops, mobile devices, smart televisions, IoT enabled appliances, wearables, and VoIP phones are devices you need and want to monitor. If you have greater than 50 devices, choose two blocks, and so on.
Is the seven-days free trial still available?
Yes. Go to https://app.nodeware.com/try/ to get started.
Q: What is considered a Monitored Asset?
A: Once a device or asset on your network is scanned, that is a Monitored Asset, and counts in your subscription. Inventory happens once every minute, scanning is less frequent. Inventoried assets which are not scanned do not count, meaning transitory devices are not likely to count as Monitored Assets in your subscription block.
Q: What if I’m unsure of how many assets are on my network?
A: We are here for you, and our primary concern is securing your network against vulnerabilities. Select the number of blocks you believe to be the right coverage, and Nodeware will alert you to any Over Limit events requiring your attention. We’ll then help you right size your subscription accordingly. A basic, conservative rule of thumb to calculate the number of assets is to multiply the number of users on your network by three (i.e. 50 Users x 3 = 150 Assets).
Q: What happens if the Monitored Assets on my network exceeds my subscribed quantity?
A: Your Monitored Asset count is audited continuously, and resets to the most recent 30-day period.
When your most recent audited high-point exceeds your subscription size, you will be prompted to manage, and right size your subscription. Assets which exceed your subscriptions count will be temporarily locked from review and reporting, in the order they are inventoried. Status of those assets will appear with this icon.
Example: If your subscription is one block (50 assets), the 51st asset to be inventoried will be grayed out (‘locked’) until the first to occur of two things: 1) your subscription is adjusted up so your subscribed asset count is greater than your monitored asset count, or 2) 30 days passes and your Monitored Asset count readjusts down to 50 assets or less.
Q: When are Monitored Assets counted in my subscription?
A: Monitored Assets are metered daily, and your high asset mark resets on a 30-day basis, starting from your purchase (anniversary) date. If your rolling 30-day high Monitored Asset count exceeds the purchased subscription size, you will see locked assets as described above.
Q: When my Monitored Asset count exceeds my subscription size, do Locked assets count in my Health Score?
A: Yes. Locked assets are only temporarily restricted. While Locked due to subscription size, those assets are inventoried, fingerprinted, and Vulnerability Scanned, and Node Scores are retained, and included in the Elements “Average Score.“
Q: Are Virtual Machines considered a Monitored Asset?
A: Once scanned for vulnerabilities, yes, a Virtual Machine on your network can be a Monitored Asset.
Q: I’m an existing reseller, how do I migrate to Asset pricing?
A: Contact your Account Manager about availability and steps to migrate your existing network(s) to asset pricing.
Q: So, software sensors are all free?
A: For all new customers starting June 30, 2020, VMWare, Hyper-V, and Windows (Windows 10 or later, inclusive Windows Server) sensors are free. For existing customers, once you’ve migrated to subscription pricing, software sensors (VMWare, Hyper-V, and Windows) are free.
Q: I'm an MSP and manage multiple customers in Nodeware. I need to break down my asset counts by customer, how can you help?
A: On the Usage tab, click Download Usage Report (top right). We’d appreciate any feedback on how helpful this report proves. Specifically, what more would you need from this feature to meet your customer billing needs? Write us at support@nodeware.com with your input.
Q: Can I still buy a physical sensor appliance if that is my preferred scanner implementation method?
A: Yes.
